Amputation Compensation Claim Following Road Traffic Accident
Mr M had found our details through a charity website. He came from Southend-On-Sea and instructed us because of our specialist knowledge in dealing with claims involving amputation.
He had been out for a few drinks and at about 11pm whilst crossing the road, a taxi collided into him causing him to be run over by the car behind. The car behind drove over him causing crushing injuries to his skull, breaking his clavicle, shoulder and several ribs. His left leg was broken in 18 places and it was decided by Surgeons to amputate his leg at the Southend Hospital in Prittlewell Lane in Westcliff-on-Sea.
We pursued the claim against both defendants who shared liability on a 70/30 split. Compensation was agreed when following an joint settlement meeting at a Barristers Chambers in London. The Claimant received £1.2 million. This was for general damages, prosthetics and future loss of earnings. He researched a lot of information from the internet from websites such as as the Douglas Bader Foundation based in Roehampton and the Limbloss Association.
